Thank you so much to everyone who came out last night, especially those who said they weren’t coming but decided to show up anyway and surprise us. That’s the best kind of surprise. We ended up having a pretty strong turnout, and we played third out of five bands, which is a good slot to have. Everyone seemed to have a good time, including those in attendance who probably don’t typically listen to progressive rock on purpose.
I’m not the biggest fan of the sound at The Delancey, but we made due, and it came out all right. We’re lucky that we don’t have a complicated setup with multiple guitars and such. At the very least the drums sounded good, and Phil pummeled them like they had made a rude comment about his mom and he was punishing them for their insolence.
Unfortunately things were running a little late and we had to cut the set short, but we were still able to squeeze in a fun Smashing Pumpkins cover, as well as a smattering of new Astronaut Down “classics.” It was a lot of fun to play with our friends Mix Minus, who got us on the bill, as well as Edensong, who were playing their first show in three years. Watch out for those guys, they’re awesome.
