After living in New York City this long, it was great to finally have an opportunity to play a hometown show for all our friends and family in Vermont. Nectar’s was kind of an interesting venue for our music, just because they typically book a lot of jam bands, but I think it worked out pretty well.
A lot of positives for this show - we had a great turnout, we got to play the better part of two hours, and no one asked us to turn down. They even let in a bunch of people who weren’t 21, which was very cool. It was great to have the windows and doors open on Main Street too, so that our music was floating out into downtown Burlington on such a beautiful summer night.
We threw a couple covers in for good measure, and I think they went over well. We were psyched to get such a long setlist, and I think we did a pretty good job of keeping the energy up throughout, even though we were all sweating like beasts. Extra bonus points go to anyone who was actually willing to touch me after the show. Ick.
Overall, a very good show. Hopefully we’ll get the chance to play Burlington again sometime in the future. Many thanks to everyone who made it out. You guys are awesome.
Home Town Show
For anyone in the greater Burlington area, take note: Astronaut Down is coming to your town! I know, it’s about time, right? I admit, we were kind of expecting you to make the trip to catch us at a NYC club sometime … but since that hasn’t happened yet, we had no choice but to take this show on the road.
So mark your calendars and synchronize your blackberries. In fact, you might want to tattoo this one on your forearms. Good conversation starter. Saturday, August 9, Astronaut Down will be rocking Nectar’s from 9:00 until 10:45ish. Booya!

Sullivan Hall
Setlist:
1. Starfall
2. Dying Words
3. John Texas (working title)
4. Our Greatest Mistake
5. Running Down
Sullivan Hall is a pretty nice venue, and we were fortunate enough to get a pretty strong turnout for a Wednesday, which is always nice for your first time playing at a club. Hopefully we can make it back there sometime.
Our setlist was cut short, mostly because the band before us ran long, so unfortunately we had to cut a couple God’s Eye songs. Sorry for anyone who really wanted to hear those. At least they exist in a recorded medium I suppose. Our playing was mostly so-so, but I might be overly critical because the sound was so clear from where I was standing, and I could hear every nuance we played.
The new song Our Greatest Mistake went over pretty well. It had the potential for disaster, and that definitely didn’t happen, which is good. The energy was strong and no one seemed to mind that all our songs are around 7 minutes long these days. Such nerds we are. Oh, and speaking of us being nerds, Jeremy unveiled his 7-string! Awesome.
Many thanks to everyone who came out to support us on a school night. We’ll be seeing you again soon!
Celebrate National Ice Cream Month With Astronaut Down
So apparently July is National Ice Cream Month. Thank you, Ronald Regan. Anyway, what better way to get in on the fun than to come party with your favorite prog band Astronaut Down?
We’ll be at Sullivan Hall on Wednesday the 16th and we hope everyone can make it. If you play your cards right, we might even have a new song for you! Who am I kidding, you always play your cards right.
Oh, and this show is 18+, so for anyone who hasn’t been able to get a fake ID together for our 21+ shows, this is your chance to witness the rock firsthand. Hope to see you there!

Luna Lounge
Setlist:
1. Untitled Intro
2. Dying Words
3. Starfall
4. John Texas (working title)
5. The Awakening
6. Colossus
7. Dawn
8. Running Down
This probably wasn’t the tightest show we’ve ever played, but I’m pretty sure it was our best turnout, which was awesome. Plus I think some people showed up early for the other bands, because the place was pretty full. It’s always great to get an opportunity to play for people who have never heard you before. There were a few flubs, maybe two of which were pretty obvious, but the energy was strong and I think we recovered well.
We opened the set with a new piece (can’t really call it a song just yet) that will hopefully evolve into something bigger at some point. It feels pretty good as a 3 minute instrumental, but we’ll see. Last night was also the debut of a new song called Colossus, probably our heaviest one yet. We fumbled through the beginning of the song pretty badly, but at least it was sandwiched between two of our stronger God’s Eye songs, which a lot of people seemed to recognize.
I absolutely love Luna Lounge and I can’t wait to play there again. Many, many thanks to the people who came out last night - there were a lot of first timers and a few people who hadn’t seen us in a year or so, so that was fun. We can’t even tell you how much we appreciate your ongoing support. So keep watching this page and we’ll keep you posted on any upcoming pie-eating contests, sack races, and rock shows.
