Recording
What, seriously? Yes, what. And yes, seriously.
We’re in the process of doing a little recording these days. It won’t be an album, and it probably won’t even be an EP, but we’ll at least get a few demos together so you can have some new songs on myspace and whatnot, for your Astronaut Down fix. Because really it’s not fair that we don’t have any recordings with Phil playing on them. Not fair at all.
Once we have a few new songs recorded, we’ll get back to playing more shows, I promise. This way you can learn the words to our new songs in between shows and be a superfan when you sing along and everyone else is all “What? This isn’t God’s Eye,” and then you can sneer at them a little bit and be derisive. Because really that’s ultimately what it’s all about. Except not really.
So get pumped everyone, because we should hopefully have some demos up in the next month or two. Party!
Love,
Astronaut Down
Hey Kids
Sorry for the lack of updates recently - we played an impromptu show at Phil’s birthday party, but I don’t remember the setlist. Phil and I also played a show with Funny Energy earlier this month but for some reason I didn’t post that here, sorry.
Anyway, we’re working on some new songs which are melting our minds at the moment, but we should hopefully have another show in the city soon. Stay tuned!
Love,
Astronaut Down
Prepare Yourselves!
Please be advised - Astronaut Down has found a drummer! After months of unsuccessful searching, we finally decided that it would be best to build ourselves a drummer out of a cloud of spores and some mold. So we went down to the store to pick up some spores, and it turns out our spore guy is an even better drummer than he is a spore salesman! So we invited him to join our band, and thus history was made. His name is Phil and he’s a class act all the way.
So prepare yourselves! The rock will soon be unleashed upon the world, and if you’re not ready for it, it’s probably going to knock you around, bruise your elbows, and leave you with a sore back. We should be ready to play shows sometime between Keith’s and Joe’s birthdays, for those of you who measure time in the stretches between birthdays of the members of Astronaut Down. And I know that’s a lot of you. So start re-memorizing the words to your favorite AD songs, because you don’t want to be the one person at the next show who’s not singing along.
To recap - Astronaut Down has a drummer and we’re getting ready to rock your face, so you would be well advised to get ready too. Yay!
Love,
Astronaut Down
Stay Tuned …
I am sad to announce that Jeff and Astronaut Down have parted ways. Just give me a minute and we’ll keep you posted on developments …

The Delancey
Setlist:
1. I Will Wait For You (working title)
2. Dying Words
3. The Storm
4. The Awakening
5. Rescue
6. Running Down (working title)
7. Dawn
We started off with some embarassing tuning problems, and the monitors were a little iffy, so none of us could really hear the guitar. I think we did a pretty good job of regaining our footing by the midway point, and the energy was strong throughout the night. The turnout was pretty much what one would expect for a last minute show on a Wednesday night. Thanks to all who made it out, we really appreciate it.
Last night saw the debut of a couple new songs, and I daresay Running Down went over really well. Of course, when you finish an 8-minute song, you’re never sure if people are clapping enthusiastically because (a) they feel obligated because it’s so long, (b) they actually enjoyed it, or (c) they’re relieved that it’s finally over. For our first show back after taking so much time off to work on the album, it felt pretty good. Hopefully we’ll have some weekend shows coming up for you in the near future.
